Abstract
The rapid growth of
digital payment systems has significantly transformed the financial and
commercial landscape in India. With initiatives such as Digital India and the
increasing penetration of smartphones, consumers are increasingly shifting from
cash-based transactions to digital modes of payment. This study examines the
impact of digital payment systems on consumer buying behaviour, focusing on
factors such as convenience, security, speed, and trust. The research adopts a
descriptive methodology using primary data collected from consumers through a
structured questionnaire. The findings reveal that digital payments positively
influence purchasing decisions by enhancing ease of transactions and promoting
impulse buying. However, concerns related to cybersecurity and technical issues
still act as barriers. The study concludes that digital payment systems play a
vital role in reshaping consumer behaviour and recommends strengthening digital
literacy and security measures to ensure sustained adoption.
